For people in life, quotes have many meanings. For some, they’re the medicine that cures their wounds. So, for some, they are a charge of motivation to get up and try again after failure. And for some, they are light of hope in the darkness.
But there’s always a “BUT” in every situation. And in the case of Quotes, the but is people often understand quote in a manner which takes them on a tough path. Or it doesn’t help them in a way, that it should.
So, if you’re a person who’s day start with quotes, then this shortlist of some of the best quotes is for you. Because it might be possible you’re not understanding them right.
1. Never Settle- By Steve Jobs
There’s been research that shows when people slip and skips the queue, they have to wait longer. And just like queues, it applies to other things as well. But people under the influence of the wrong meaning of the quote by Steve Jobs, they stumble upon random things and never achieve success. They remain always wandering.
One thing human species don’t understand from the quote Never Settle is that for never settle you’ve to settle first. You have to first dominate the area which you’re in right now.
Jeff Bezos, founder and owner of the Amazon.com Inc, first dominate the market with online bookselling, then he went into other business.
To get successful in life, you should stick to one thing first, then choose another, to never settle. Sometimes you need to compromise to never compromise again in life.
2. “The fastest way to change yourself is to hang out with people who are already the way you want to be.” – By Reid Hoffman
We’d like to become as, Sir APJ ABDUL KALAM. So, we should hang out with them. But how’s this even possible because he’s no more on earth to hang around with people. Okay, we should hang out with someone who’s living. Let’s say, Bill Gates, he’s a great choice to choose whom we would like to become. But again, we don’t think so he’ll hang out with every person who likes to hang out with him. The reason, he’s not a street guy.
But this is not the whole point.
The point is that that the meaning of the quote by Reid Hoffman is not that we should hang out with people whom we’d like to become, but we should practice the routine of those people.
If we want to become like Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Robert Downey Jr or any other great personality, we should do the things they did.
And that’s how we will become like them or somewhere near around them.
Because hanging out with people whom we admire won’t help. We must learn and do things just like them.
3. “Dream is not that which you see while sleeping it is something that does not let you sleep.”- By APJ Abdul Kalam
Most people dream. Some big, some small. At least once in a lifetime. However, there’s a difference dreaming in sleep, dreaming awake and dreaming while working for that dream.
But because of some newbie motivational youtubers, who without any real-life experience, tells people how to dream, and leads them to even more complicated situation. They share views from some books which suggest people imagine the things they want. Dream while awake and visualize the things they want in life before going to bed. Because it will attract everything to them.
And people do because they see other people claiming that it works. So, they dream while lying on the bed. And it doesn’t let them sleep. They dream so hard that they sometimes stay awake for a whole night.
And when they come across to the quote by APJ Abdul Kalam, they think they’re doing the right thing.
But, yeah But, because the meaning of APJ Abdul Kalam Sir’s quote is that that your dream doesn’t let you sleep because you’re working for that dream to make it a reality.
You are awake whole night because of the dream, not lying on the bed but working for that dream.

4. If I had nine hours to chop down a tree, I’d spend the first six sharpening my ax.” – Abraham Lincoln
A great quote, isn’t it? It’s the opposite of what many people do. When they have a project to work on, many people just work on it directly with little or no preparation. On the contrary, smart people prepare things well in advance and that way they outperform those with little or no preparation. They accomplish the job in less time and with less stress. That’s what I call working smart.
Preparation is essential to work smart.
It helps you find if something is worth doing and to find the most efficient way to do things. It makes you ready when an opportunity comes.
There is a danger though: you could be over-prepared.
Being over-prepared is dangerous because you may then take action way too late or never take action at all. Even worse, some people use preparation as an excuse not to take action. Don’t let this happen to you. Do only the preparation that significantly contributes to your project and your personal growth. Prepare well but don’t over-prepare.
Exactly Dixant 🙂
